These photographs are my interpretation of this disconnection.”

“Seine Bildsprache ist geprägt von starken Kontrasten, geometrischen Kompositionen, gerne kombiniert mit surrealistischen Elementen. Aber auch die Realität und die Vielfalt des menschlichen Lebens sind wichtige Bestandteile seiner Arbeit. In seiner Ausstellung „Metropolis“ zeigt er vom 11. April bis zum 6. Juli 2019 eine Auswahl seines umfangreichen Schaffens in schwarzweiß.
Obwohl der Mensch ein wesentlicher Bestandteil seiner Arbeit ist wird dieser nicht im Detail portraitiert. Er bleibt oft anonym. Es sind Gesichter, die von Dunkelheit verdeckt werden, während sie sich durch die Stadt bewegen. Die Figuren in „Metropolis“ werden oft von den künstlichen Formen, die sie umgeben, eingerahmt, als ob sie in eine Welle ihrer eigenen Kreation versunken wären. Wichtig ist Schaller die Interaktion zwischen den Menschen und den Räumen, in denen sie sich bewegen.”

SPi Collective LDN Exhibition at The Printspace. October 18th - 30th
Alan is exhibiting work alongside his fellow SPi Collective co-founders at The Printspace.
The show focuses on their work taken in London.
All three members of the SPi Collective were born and raised in London. Though travelling and shooting internationally, London is the place they always come back to and have worked in most extensively. London is widely regarded as one of the best places in the world to do street photography due to the diversity of its inhabitants, culture and architecture.

Alan's work will be part of a charity exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery in London to raise money for a Rain Water Harvesting System for the Pikpa Refugee Camp on Lesvos, Greece.

Alan is a featured artist at this year's Street Photo Milano festival in Milan, Italy. He will be giving a two day workshop, lecture and his work will be exhibited over the course of the event.

Faces In Focus - Alan is part of an exhibition for charity in London at The Tabernacle, Notting Hill. He is showing work from his time documenting the coffee workers in Rwanda and is donating the proceeds of the work to The Kigali Genocide Memorial.
